Hands-on di GoNintendo sulla demo del Media Summit:
Monster Hunter 3 is a hard game to put together impressions for. This is a title where you really need an ample amount of time to sit down and learn just how the entire game works. It's not like you just jump into epic monster battles and start swinging away. There's a lot more involved in Monster Hunter 3, with tons of little things to learn. That's not a knock against the game in any way a at all. I mean it as a compliment! I'm just saying that the title doesn't really get to shine at a media summit like this one.
Monster Hunter 3, for many people, will be all about the online play. Obviously, that kind of setup isn't really what you find in the media summit offering. Thankfully, we'll all be able to pick up our free Monster Hunter 3 demos from GameStop in just a couple of weeks. That should be a great motivator for many Wii owners to stick their necks out and try something new.
When you do finally understand how Monster Hunter 3 works, you can see just how much there is to the game. This is indeed a living, breathing universe that will stomp you down if you don't keep your wits about you. Adding in real-life friends to help you on your adventure just makes things that much better. Between the weapons and armor upgrades you'll want to obtain, as well as the various quests to take on, you'll surely have plenty to do whether you play alone or with friends.
As far as the basic gameplay mechanics go, Monster Hunter 3 is extremely solid. You'll have the option to play with the Classic Controller, which I feel will be the way most gamers approach the title. While I think there's something to be said for playing Wiimote/Nunchuk, it's a personal preference that might actually get more people to check this game out. Either way, you'll be mowing down behemoths left and right...or they'll be squashing you.
As far as the media summit goes, Monster Hunter 3 is a game where I ran around and hit stuff, but didn't understand all the nuances. I know that when I get my hands on the final copy, it will be a completely different story. I can't wait to fully immerse myself in this world, and take on the major tasks that will be waiting for me. These are feelings and reactions that you just can't pull out of a 15 minute demo.
